Japan Airlines JL 1 First Class SFO to HND

Japan Airlines First Class SFO to HND

Never really traveled on Japan Airlines before so this is my first time!
This is the second part of my trip, which originated from Seattle.

I got to SFO earlier and had to wait around as the checkin counter opens 4 hours before flight departure.
Fortunately there were some art exhibitions and a mini flight museum in the international terminal.

After checkin  and getting my boarding class, I headed to the Sakura lounge shared by both Business and First class passengers.
It was a very small lounge and First class passengers only get a small room in the lounge as an extra.
Very far cry from the lounges at HND airport.

The food was quite limited and the most interesting item was the rice soup bowl with salmon.
Seemed like almost everyone was just eating that. :)

Sky Kitty approved of this dish!
Our 777-300 plane taking us to Japan

The seat at 2K, very large and spacious but not so private as it does not have a "private door".

Seat was definitely showing its age.

The Porsche Design amenity kit was already at the seat  as well as a nice set of Bose headphones.
All the F seats were taken on this flight too, seems to be quite popular.

Here we go!

Drinks list menu with an interesting "Queen of Blue Tea" which was recommended by the Purser.
First time that I heard of this.
It came in a Wine bottle form and also served in a wine glass.

Sky Kitty enjoying Queen of Blue Tea!
It is very different from sencha(green tea) and tasted more like a stronger puer fermented tea.
I quite like it.
Definitely worth a try !

Lunch menu for the flight
Definitely try the Japanese option.
The presentation was amazing and the food was excellent!

The only thing I didnt like was the dessert.
It was a jelly type dessert with a sweet sauce.

Coffee was served in a nice looking mug.
Really like the design!
The prawn tempura bowl was very good too!
Highly recommended.

This is the Grilled Sea bass with rice and soup.
Very tasty!
The FAs were very attentive and had great customer service as expected from JL First.
The service and food were excellent, amongst the best.
The seat was a bit old and the SFO lounge was too tiny, something that JL maybe can fix in the future.

If you ever have the chance to take JL First, dont pass it up!

Thank you for reading!
